The Cult confirms three shows in Brazil for February

Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy’s band performs in Sao Paulo, Rio and Curitiba, celebrating 40 years of career

The Cult, one of the most emblematic and important bands in the history of rock, bring the tour celebrating 40 years of their career to Brazil in February 2025. The shows of this tour will visit 3 Brazilian capitals: Rio de Janeiro/RJ (22/02, Viva Rio), Sao Paulo/SP (23/02, Vibra SP) and Curitiba/PR (25/02, Live Curitiba).

Led by Ian Astbury (singer) and Billy Duffy (guitarist), The Cult’s legacy is a legion of fans and a hit-filled discography, highlighting four albums that consistently rank among the greatest releases in the history of rock: “Love” (1985), “Electric” (1987), “Sonic Temple” (1989) and “Ceremony” (1991).

The Cult’s straight-ahead rock, sometimes flirting with ’80s hard rock with the then emerging alternative, exploded on radio stations around the world – songs like “She Sells Sanctuary”, “Fire Woman”, ” Rain” and “Give me Mercy’ are still played on radio programs today, even in Brazil.

The Cult’s legacy goes beyond their albums. The band influenced generations of musicians and bands, such as The Darkness, and also influenced the start of the grunge movement.

Of note is the presence of singer Ian Astbury, influenced by David Bowie and who in the first half of the 2000s “replaced” Jim Morrison (1943-1971) in the project The Doors of the 21st Century (with former members of the Doors themselves).

The Cult’s latest studio album was released in 2022: Under the Midnight Sun, the eleventh of their career. The album was produced by Tom Dalgety at Rockfield Studios, where the band recorded their first album Dreamtime, in 1984. The album features a mix of rock, psychedelia and electronic elements.
