The American platform Hulu has released the video for “Angel in Flip-Flops”, a song featured in the “Only Murders in the Building” series as a fantasy recording, made in the 1980s by the character of Steve Martin.

The video is an animated collage, showing the comedian in his 40-year look, in love with a girl in flip-flops. By the way, the colorful style of the rubber sandal is reminiscent of a certain Brazilian brand.

In the plot, the character Charles-Haden Savage (Martin), at the height of success with his original series “Brazzos”, would record an album that was very successful in Germany before the fall of the Berlin Wall. When the writers approached the comedian with the idea, he said he “had a title and a song that ran through his genius mind,” said co-creator and showrunner John Hoffman.

The musical arrangement was by Paul Shaffer, leader of the “Late Show with David Letterman” musicians, “Saturday Night Live” golden age instrumentalist and member of the Blues Brothers.

With the clip, “we all hope for a resurgence of interest in music – in Germany and around the world without walls!” Added Hoffman of the release.

It is worth mentioning that Martin has already made a joke a hit. The song “King Tut”, which began as a “Saturday Night Live” skit, sold over 1 million copies and reached the Top 20 in 1978.

“Only Murders in the Building” is shown in Brazil on the Star + platform.
