Robbie Williams on touring at the same time as Oasis: ‘It’s not a competition’

Williams and Gallagher brothers have traded barbs in the past

Robbie Williams announced this Monday, 11th, a tour through Europe that should take place from May 2025 until September of the same year. The period corresponds, in part, to the reunion tour of the Oasisannounced in August. The brothers Gallagher will travel the world between July and November next year for the first time together since 2009.

During an interview published on Instagram (via NME), Williams was asked if he plans to compete with Oasis, to which he replied: “No”.

“When the Oasis come back, there’s no competition, really,” he added. “Unless I had taken a 20-year break, then it would be a fair fight. THE Oasis going back, I don’t think anyone could compete with that — not even Taylor Swiftwho is the greatest artist on this planet. So no, it’s not a competition, although in fact it is.”

The singer previously commented on the band’s reunion: “The soap opera in itself will be exciting or morbid to watch. As for the shows? They will be incredible, something out of the ordinary.”

He also praised Liamsaying: “Liam Gallagher reading your cell phone in the bathroom would be more charismatic and intriguing than 99.9% of the world’s population at their most enigmatic moment. All he has to do is stand there and sing for the audience to make sure it was worth every penny.” There was, however, a provocation to the other brother: “Noel will be there too.”

Past

In the past, Robbie, Liam and Noel they had problems. Noel even referred to Williams as “the fat dancer from ‘Take That'”. Robbiein turn, challenged Liam to a fight for 100 thousand pounds during the Brit Awards 2000.

In 2022, Williams said in an interview with Zane Lowe: “Basically, I’m a big fan of Oasis and I always have been. I was there and I was part of it, and it was incredibly surreal: unbelievable hedonism, reckless abandon and rock’n’roll, ‘let’s take everything to the max and see where it takes us’ rock’n’roll. It’s part of my competitive nature too.”

“But they were also giant bullies, to the whole industry, to everyone in it — and I didn’t like that. A lot of that still stays with me. They’re probably different people now, but a part of me still thinks, ‘They’re a damn bullies. I don’t like bullies,'” he added.

Liam reacted to the statement by writing on Twitter: “I agree with him on the main point, but not the bully part. I’ve never bullied anyone in my life. I’m a big joker, for sure, and I probably go a little overboard sometimes, but if I’ve ever hurt anyone’s feelings, I apologize.”
