G20: Lula’s presence strengthens security at the festival to avoid bottles on stage

The presidency is confirmed in an event promoted by first lady Janja

The third day of Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty Festival It started a little differently than the other two evenings of programming in Praça Mauá in downtown Rio de Janeiro. This is why the ‘pop’ event of the G20 welcomes an illustrious guest this Saturday 16th: the president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

Unlike previous days, the surroundings of the stage were reinforced with bars and security officers. To access the space closest to the facility, the general public will first have to undergo a thorough search to ensure that bottles, cans and sharp objects do not enter the premises.

The measure aims to guarantee the integrity of the head of state and to prevent anyone from throwing objects on the stage. Due to the measure, the public has to face queues for searches and to pass through metal detectors. Even on-site vendors cannot remain within the perimeter.

Those who want to buy drinks must leave the space and look for refrigerators and coolers outside the security barrier. The scheduled event will begin 5pm late, but it started at 6.02pm. The presence of Lula and the artists of the evening is expected.

With the theme “Because the day you will be born happy”the stage of the Aliança Global Festival welcomes names like Alceu Valença, Ney Matogrosso and Fafá de Belém on its third day. Before the festival, Lula attended the closing ceremony of the G20 Social.
