The mayor of Rio de Janeiro generates expectations with the publication on social media
The new Madonna
Rio de Janeiro Mayor Eduardo Paes (PSD) has hinted that Lady Gaga may hold a free show on the Copacabana beachfront in 2025, repeating Madonna’s show initiative this year. The tip was posted on Paes’ official profile on X (formerly Twitter), where he shared a video of the singer performing “Shallow,” a hit from the “Nasce Uma Estrela” soundtrack.
In the caption, Paes wrote: “So you don’t think I’m mad! ‘Everyone to Rio!’ The experts will understand! The enigmatic phrase aroused great resonance and was enough to raise speculation about a possible presentation of the artist in the city.
Internet users react to this possibility
The suggestion quickly resonated with Internet users, who reacted enthusiastically in the comments. “Eduardo Paes is not joking about this,” one follower wrote. Another commented: “Dudu, you don’t joke like that even when we protest in front of your house.”
Although no official confirmation has arrived, the history of large shows on Copacabana beach reinforces expectations. In May 2023, Madonna gathered 1.6 million people in the same place, in an event that stood out as the singer’s largest audience in her career.
Gaga on the coast of Rio
If confirmed, Lady Gaga’s show could break the audience record. With hits like “Bad Romance,” “Poker Face” and “Shallow,” Gaga is known for her impactful performances and legion of devoted fans around the world.
