Sean “Diddy” Combs has been denied bail for the third time in a sex trafficking and racketeering case

The judge cited the risk of witness tampering and violations during pre-trial detention

Sean “Diddy” Combs on Wednesday (27), during a hearing in New York, another bail request was rejected. The judge Arun Subramanian justified the decision by noting evidence of tampering with witnesses and violations of the provisions of the art Bureau of Prisons (BOP) while the musician is in precautionary custody.

Combs’ lawyer offered bail worth $50 million, secured by the artist’s assets, security monitoring and a pledge not to interfere in the investigation. However, the court concluded that it could not guarantee that Combs would comply with his release conditions. “There is evidence to support a serious risk of witness tampering”the judge said, adding that the defendant contacted witnesses even after testifying before the jury in June 2024.

Violations during detention

The court also noted that Combs violated BOP regulations while detained at the institution Metropolitan Detention Centerin Brooklyn. According to the indictment, he paid other inmates to make calls to people outside his authorized contact list. Additionally, he asked family members and lawyers to facilitate conference calls, making communications difficult to track.

These infringements were regarded by the court as evidence of this “defendant cannot be reasonably monitored under any conditions of release.”At an earlier hearing, Assistant U.S. Attorney Cristina Slaviksaid Combs “I can’t and won’t follow the rules” and this is your defense “I couldn’t check your client.”

Combs was arrested Sept. 16 by Department of Homeland Security agents on charges of racketeering, sex trafficking and transportation for the purpose of prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty but remains detained until his trial, scheduled for May 2025. If convicted of extortion, Combs could face life in prison.
