The person responsible for the album was described by journalist Kory Grow as “Satan’s pre-eminent ambassador”

Metal had a representative on the list of the 100 best albums of 2024 by Rolling Stone USA. The survey of the vehicle in its American version had contributions from more than 25 journalists who are part of the publication’s editorial.

The heavy sounding album to be included in the ranking, in 93rd position, is From Hell I Risesolo debut by Kerry Kingguitarist of Slayer. The thrash metal veteran was accompanied on the recordings by Mark Osegueda (Death Angel) on vocals, Paul Bostaph (Slayer) on the battery, Kyle Sanders (ex-Hellyeah) in the bass and Phil Demmel (ex-Machine Head, Vio-Lence) on guitar. The production is signed by Josh Wilbur (Lamb of God).

The analysis of the material was the responsibility of the journalist Kory Growwho wrote:

“Former Slayer guitarist Kerry King’s first solo album is basically the Still DRE (1999) of thrash metal. But while Dr. Dre wanted to remind his fans that he was still smoking his leaves, still playing with the beats, and still not loving the police after nearly a decade of absence, King wants his fans to understand that even though Slayer is essentially destined for hell, he still is Satan’s pre-eminent ambassador. In From Hell I RiseKing is still drinking his tequila, still playing with the riffs, and still not loving the priests. In other words, it sounds like Slayer — and sometimes, Slayer at their best.”

Although the presence of metal was rare on the 2024 list, works from different subgenres of rock were remembered by the team at Rolling Stone USA. Funeral for Justice (Mdou Moctar — 19th), No Name (Jack White — 20th), Wall of Eyes (The Smile — 35th), Songs of a Lost World (The Cure — 48th) and All Born Screaming (St Vincent — 49th) are among those mentioned.
