On Tuesday evening (12/3), Liniker consolidated her position as one of Brazil’s biggest artists at the 2024 Multishow Awards.
With 11 nominations, the singer broke the record of the edition and was crowned by winning in four main categories: Cover of the year, MPB of the Year, Album of the Year AND Artist of the Year.
The artist moved everyone when he received the Artist of the Year trophy, giving a powerful speech about the fight for representation and the importance of his voice in a country marked by silence. “I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to be heard in the reality of a country that silences and gags so many people in a transparent way. This award is not just mine, it is ours,” she said, drawing warm applause.
The album Cashewswho had already been elected by Rolling Stone Brazil as the year’s best national album, it was also one of the night’s biggest highlights. “This album was born from a dream that, first, was mine alone, and then became a collective project, full of love and dedication. I dedicate this recognition to all the people who see themselves in the stories I tell in the songs”, said Liniker .
Liniker: A career in representation
Liniker’s success at the Multishow Awards is another milestone in his career, characterized by barrier-breaking and historic achievements. She was the first Brazilian trans artist to win a Latin Grammy, in 2022, in the Best Brazilian Popular Music Album category, with Indigo Indigo Butterfly. More recently, she became the first trans woman to join the Brazilian Academy of Culture, strengthening her position as a symbol of social transformation.
Liniker grew up in a musical family, where he began to cultivate his passion for art. His career began in 2015 as the lead singer of the band Liniker and the Caramelowsachieving national and international successes. In 2020 the artist decided to embark on a solo career, consolidating himself as one of the most relevant voices in contemporary Brazilian music.
Recognition at the Multishow Awards, combined with his previous successes, reaffirms Liniker as a transformative cultural force. As well as shining on the music scene, he continues to be a source of inspiration for many, symbolizing courage, authenticity and resilience.
