The band is in the middle of their farewell tour, Celebrating Life Through Death, scheduled to end sometime in 2026
THE Grave surprised fans from all over the world by announcing, at the end of 2023, the farewell tour Celebrating Life Through Death. Starting in March 2024 and scheduled to last until 2026, the tour will be the last in the history of the band, created in 1984 by the brothers Max and Iggor Cavalera — who are no longer part of the training.
Amidst the long sequence of shows, which should visit dozens of countries, the group today composed of Derrick Green (voice), Andreas Kisser (guitar), Paulo Jr. (low) and Greyson Nekrutman (drums) should release new songs. The material is already being worked on.
The revelation was initially made during Kisser’s interview with former MTV VJ Sarah Oliveira, on the project My Song (via Whiplash). At the time, the guitarist said that there will be few songs, aiming to compose an EP.
“We want to record all our shows to release a live CD and maybe release 3 or 4 new songs with Greyson on drums. We are talking about some things, some unheard of.”
One of the tracks may even be a ballad. Sepultura has come close to this model on more recent albums, but has never written a song like this itself.
“We have this big dream of writing a ballad, which we never managed to do! [risos] In metal there are so many bands with this ability. We tried a few times, but it never went.”
Regarding the live album, Andreas has said in several interviews that the proposal is to release a work with 40 songs recorded in 40 different cities. To this end, all presentations are being recorded.
Chemistry at Sepultura
In another, more recent interview, with Impact Metal Channel (via Blabbermouth), Andreas Kisser confirmed that Sepultura is already working on new songs. They will be the first — and probably the only ones — with the American Greyson Nekrutman, called in a hurry to replace Eloy Casagrandetoday in Slipknot.
“We have incredible chemistry. Greyson is an incredible musician, an incredible guy. We will put together, with the live album that we are recording, all the shows. The idea is to put together 40 songs in 40 different cities around the world. And we will have four new songs with Greyson in this big package. We’re working on it, but we don’t have anything old or hidden or anything like that. Sepultura’s old record label, Roadrunner, has already released everything we have in the vaults there.”
