Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart Reveal Why They Want to Travel to Space
You Chainsmokers will be launched into space for a performance recorded in the year 2024, marking the first time an artist has performed at the edge of space. The information is from Associated Press.
The duo of DJ’s and composers Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall intends to enter a pressurized capsule tethered to a stratospheric balloon to perform a presentation about 20 miles (equivalent to 33 km) above Earth. The project will be carried out in partnership with the space tourism company world view.
“We have always dreamed of going to space and are excited to collaborate with world view to have this adventure and experience”, said the Chainsmokers in a statement. “We know the views from Earth and space will be amazing and awe-inspiring and we hope to leverage this flight for creativity in future projects.”
Ryan HartmanCEO of world view, added that the company hopes the event can inspire other artists to “do something different than what they would do otherwise… too. It’s something I’m personally inspired and excited about.”
Hartman also told AP that his choice to send the Chainsmokers to space was an effort to draw the attention of a younger audience to space travel. In addition, the executive would have been influenced by his youngest son to invite the musicians.
“I’ve just seen firsthand and personally how their music reaches so many different groups, so many different age groups and how passionate they are about their music and their art. It corresponds to our passion for what we do”, he said.
The Chainsmokers released their fourth studio album, So Far So Goodin early May, which included music videos for tracks like “Riptide”, “iPad” and “High”. On July 1st, they released a deluxe version of So Far So Good with an additional track in collaboration with Canadian electronic duo Bob Moses called “Why Can’t You Wait”.
