Beyoncé’s husband is accused of rape in 2000, in a lawsuit brought by a minor under 13 years old
Details of the accusation
Rapper Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, has been involved in a civil lawsuit accusing both him and Sean “Diddy” Combs of raping a 13-year-old girl in 2000. The lawsuit, represented by attorney Tony Buzbee, was originally filed in October in the Southern District of New York against Combs and redrafted this Sunday (8/12) to add Jay-Z as a defendant.
According to the lawsuit, filed under the alias Jane Doe, the crime occurred after the victim was taken to a party following the MTV Video Music Awards.
More actions against Combs
Sean Combs faces nearly 20 other civil lawsuits, in addition to sex trafficking charges, brought by federal prosecutors. Attorney Buzbee has promised to open numerous cases representing alleged victims of Combs, in crimes that allegedly occurred between 1995 and 2021. Among the charges already recorded, there are reports of victims between the ages of 16 and 19.
The defendant’s response
Combs has repeatedly denied all allegations. His latest attempt to gain freedom before trial was rejected by a federal judge on November 27. He is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in New York, with a trial scheduled for May 5, 2025.
The rapper is accused of extortion, abuse and sex trafficking and, if found guilty, could be sentenced to life in prison. Jay-Z, in turn, has yet to publicly comment on his inclusion in the case.
