“You make terrible decisions under the influence of drugs,” he reflected on drug abuse. “I wanted love so desperately that I ended up taking people hostage. I would see someone I liked, we would spend three or four months together, and then that person would start to resent me because they had nothing in their life but me. It really saddens me when I think about how many people I probably hurt.”
Today, the musician takes a stand against the use of any type of drug and divides his life between the period before and after sobriety. He has also helped stars like Eminem and Robbie Williams to get rid of the addiction. The attempt with George Michaelhowever, was unsuccessful.

“It’s hard to tell someone they’re acting like an idiot, and it’s hard to hear it,” he commented. “Eventually, I made the decision to admit that I was being an idiot myself.”
The problems faced led John to be against marijuana use: “I maintain that it is addictive. Leads to other drugs. And when you’re high — and I’ve been high — you don’t think normally.”
Legalizing marijuana in the United States and Canada is one of the biggest mistakes of all time.
The drug was legalized in Canada in 2018. In the United States, marijuana is legal for recreational use only in some states, such as California and New York, subject to certain rules.
