Nowadays it is common to hear the expression “this technology has gone too far” when talking about Artificial Intelligence. Because a recently released gin commercial proved that films with AI-generated characters are already a reality.

The commercial, for the Still GIN brand, shows how generative artificial intelligence is used in advertising, enabling impossible encounters between different eras. In it, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre share a drink with Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr at a classy bar. The latter two, of course, are AI-based reconstructions of deceased artists.

The result, in my humble opinion, is not even that perfect. What matters is the idea and the fact that it can be demonstrated that this is possible and that this type of technology is very advanced.

Who doesn’t remember that famous commercial made here in Brazil in which Maria Rita starred alongside her mother, Elis Regina? Will artificial intelligence expand many frontiers? Will we still see films made completely with artificial intelligence technology?

And above all, will we reach a certain point where we will watch commercials and no longer understand what is real and what is virtual?
