Kim Thayil (guitar), Matt Cameron (battery) and Ben Shepherd (bass) took the stage with the singer Shaina Shepherd — who, despite his surname, has no relationship or kinship with Ben. Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses) and Doug Martsch (Built to Spill) also took the stage for a special appearance.

Lasting less than 30 minutes, the show had six songs: “Hunted Down”, “Outshined”, “Flower”, “Beyond the Wheel”, “Kickstand” and “Kick Out the Jams”this is a cover of MC5. The last two were attended by McKagan. Check out the video below or by clicking here (via Blabbermouth).

Shaina Shepherd and Soundgarden

Shaina Shepherd is no stranger to the Soundgarden universe. She, who was previously part of the band Bearaxe, collaborated with Kim Thayil in 2020, playing two songs from the Alice in Chains“It Ain’t Like That” and “What the Hell Have I” — during an event in honor of the band.

The following year, Thayil, Matt Cameron and Ben Shepherd performed two Soundgarden songs — “Black Hole Sun” and “Searching with My Good Eye Closed” — next to Brandi Carlile during the country artist’s performance in Washington.

In 2019, they held a concert in memory of Chris Cornell in the city of Los Angeles, with Taylor Momsen (The Pretty Reckless), Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters) and Carlile taking turns on vocals. Also participating in the event were musicians from Audioslave (also from Rage Against the Machine), Miley Cyrus, Metallica, Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age), between others.

The occasions mentioned were the only ones on which the remnants came together. Chris Cornell passed away on May 18, 2017, at age 52.
