The group announced the end of activities in August, after Steven Tyler’s vocal cord injury proved irreversible
August 2, 2024 has been marked as a sad day for the trajectory of Aerosmith. On this date, the band announced that they would retire from the stage, canceling their farewell tour. Peace outsidedue to irreparable damage to the vocal cords of Steve Tyler. The problem had already caused the postponement of the tour, which had just begun when the interruption proved necessary.
One of the members seemed to have quickly overcome the closure of the group: the bassist Tom Hamiltonwho was part of it from the beginning and never left it. Again in August he was the first to speak openly. He regretted the situation and stated that a return with another singer had not even been considered, but assured that Aerosmith had not finished as an institution: they would simply no longer tour.
Two months later, in October, he announced that he had formed a new band. THE Enemies nearby he held his first show in the month mentioned above and also has a record deal: Virgin musical group. His first single, “The Sound of a Train”will be released on January 17th.

Hamilton, 72, is counting on the lyricist Gary Stier and the following musicians in training:
- the guitarist Track Fosterwho worked as Tom’s bass tech in Aerosmith;
- also guitarist Peter Stroudplaying with the country singer Sheryl Crow 25 years ago;
- the drummer Tony Brockwhich integrated the The children and played with Rod Stewart for 12 years;
- the singer Chasen Hamptonwho had a career in country music.

Like in the early days of Aerosmith
In an interview with Ultimate classic rockTom Hamilton celebrated the new project and admitted he was “a bit nervous” about the first show. Interestingly, the sensation made him more “energized.”
According to the bassist it was wonderful working with Close Enemies because it represents a sort of “return to the roots”. He comments:
“You know, we don’t have any previous albums. We’ll be driving around in vans and on commercial flights, just like when Aerosmith started – and I can’t wait. There’s a certain camaraderie in that.”
Hamilton also revealed that the group has a series of songs ready. In other words: more singles and even an album could arrive. The upcoming shows will take place January 8-29, all in tiny houses across the United States.
