The group announced the end of its activities in August, after an injury to Steven Tyler’s vocal cords proved to be irreversible
August 2, 2024 was marked as a sad day for the trajectory of Aerosmith. On this date, the band announced that they would retire from the stage, canceling their farewell tour. Peace Outdue to irreparable damage to the vocal cords of Steve Tyler. The problem had already caused the postponement of the tour, which had just started when the interruption proved necessary.
One of the members seemed to have quickly overcome the group’s closure: the bassist Tom Hamiltonwho has been part of it since the beginning and has never been outside. Still in August, he was the first to speak out. He regretted the situation and declared that a return with another vocalist was not even considered, but assured that Aerosmith had not ended as an institution — they would just no longer tour.

Two months later, in October, he announced that he had formed a new band. THE Close Enemies held his first show in the aforementioned month and even has a record deal: Virgin Music Group. His first single, “Sound of a Train”will be released on January 17th.

Like in the early days of Aerosmith
In an interview with Ultimate Classic RockTom Hamilton celebrated the new project and admitted to being “a little nervous” about the first show. Interestingly, the feeling made him more “energized”.
In the bassist’s opinion, it has been great working with Close Enemies because it represents a kind of “return to the roots”. He comments:
“You know, we don’t have any previous albums. We’re going to be riding around in vans and on commercial flights, just like when Aerosmith started — and I’m looking forward to it. There’s a certain camaraderie to it.”
Hamilton also anticipated that the group has a series of songs already ready. In other words: other singles and even an album could come. The next shows take place between January 8th and 29th, all in small houses in the United States.
