In addition to vinyl records, the artist consumes music through iPods: “I have playlists, iPods. I have lots and lots of different iPods with labels so I know which one I’m going to play in the dark.”

“So they all have things that fit my mood,” he explained. “I have so much music — not in a nostalgic way, things that I can’t just get over that also mean a lot to me, that remind me of a lot of periods and people.”

On the same occasion, Smith still talked about Charli XCX and Chappell Roan: “It would be kind of weird if I was like, ‘Yeah, that’s my favorite thing’. I think what they do as artists is pretty fantastic, but I think it would probably be dishonest if I said that’s what I listen to at home.” .
