The pop star jokingly apologizes after criticism of the series’ “Extraordinary Merry Christmas” episode.
Chappell Roan caused a stir on social media after voicing his opinion on an episode of Cheerfulnessparticularly the third season Christmas special, Extraordinary Merry Christmas.
In a video posted to her Instagram account, the 26-year-old pop star was quick to criticize the 2011 episode, which she described as “The worst episode of Glee I’ve ever seeni.” As he watched the program, he paused, laughed, and said, “I’ll hang up. I hate it. Next.“
The funny criticism sparked reactions from some fans of the series, and Roan later apologized, but in an equally joking way.
Sitting next to a lighted Christmas tree, she apologized to the “Gleeks” (fans of “Glee”) for any offense caused, explaining that she “loves every episode of Glee” and that she adores the characters Kurt and Blaine, played by Chris Colfer and Darren Criss, respectively.
“I’m sorry, I love every episode of Glee and I love Kurt and Blaine” she said, as someone off-camera comically pointed scissors at her.
Chappell Roan and “Glee”: from criticism to admiration
This wasn’t the first time Roan shared his thoughts on “Glee,” the musical series that aired between 2009 and 2015. During a live performance earlier this year, the artist revealed that having recently started watching the show and that, initially, he found it difficult to connect with the series.
“ANDI thought, “This is damn stupid.” And then I thought, “Get into this thing.”.”” However, she eventually succumbed to the production’s charm and was enchanted by the characters.
Furthermore, Roan ended the year 2024 with great musical achievements. His career reached new heights, with his debut album The rise and fall of a Midwestern princess reaching No. 2 on the Billboard 200. It also had seven entries on the Billboard Hot 100, including the hit “Good Luck, Babe!”, which reached the top 10.
