Charlie Benante watched the singer’s performance in Los Angeles and liked the musical part, but not the audience’s behavior
Charlie Benante decided to treat his daughter, Mia Charley. The drummer of Anthrax and the current celebration of Panther took the young woman to a concert Billie Eilish at the Kia Forum, in Los Angeles, United States.
The chosen performance was the last in a series of five performances in the same location, taking place on December 21st. The ticket served as a Christmas gift for Mia — and Charlie also purchased a ticket to go with it.
However, the experience did not leave the thrash metal veteran completely happy. In publication in Instagram (via Rockbizz), the musician praised Eilish’s performance itself, but criticized the behavior of the fans, who did not put down their cell phones.
In the post, initially, Benante highlighted:
“An early Christmas present for my daughter. I surprised her with tickets to Billie Eilish’s last show of the year, at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles. We had a lot of fun.”
Then came the comment about the audience’s behavior. The drummer stated:
“I just wish these ‘screenagers’ (an expression that combines the words ‘screen’, which means ‘screen’, and ‘teenagers’, which means ‘teenagers’) would put down their cell phones to watch part of the show. It’s okay to film a little bit of a song here and there, but the entire show? Live in the moment a little.”
Finally, a positive statement about the performance. For him, the sound quality was well above average.
“I have to comment on the sound! It was crisp, punchy and with lots of bass. The mix was killer. I love that song ‘Ocean Eyes’. #It’sForTheChildren #MakeYourChildrenHappy”

Billie Eilish and cell phones
Several videos published on social media show that Billie Eilish herself has already taken a stance on the excessive use of cell phones during shows. Records show the singer making brief requests for smartphones to be put aside for a while — and even gently putting the devices down, with her own hands, when she leaves the stage to interact with the audience in the front row.
During a show at the 2019 edition of the GlastonburyEilish even made a proposal to the audience. Aware that fans would not fail to record the performance, the artist declared:
“All I ask is that everyone tries to live in the moment. I would often say, ‘put your phones away’, but if you want to film, that’s fine, just put it close to your face [para não atrapalhar a visão de quem está atrás].”
“If you’re happy as hell, I want you to live in that feeling…” 🖤
