The 54-year-old bassist died after 18 years of working with the band at concerts and in the studio
Collaboration with Jota Quest
Renato Tommaso, bassist and sound engineer who accompanied Jota Quest, died on Sunday (29/12), at the age of 54. Although he was not part of the group’s original lineup, he was a present figure for 18 years, initially as a roadie on tour and, later, as a collaborator in the studio and on stage. The news was spread on the band’s official profile on social media and by singer Rogério Flausino, who did not provide the causes of death.
“Our deepest condolences for the sad and premature departure of our dear friend and walking companion Renato Tommaso,” wrote Rogério Flausino in a post on Instagram.
Tributes from colleagues
The singer highlighted Tommaso’s dedication to his career with Jota Quest. “Great musician and gigantic professional who has been with us these last 18 years, whether on the road, in the studio or on stage, dedicating himself to the maximum and living with us side by side, always very special moments,” said the singer.
The band’s official profile also lamented the loss of the musician. “Great friend, an exemplary family man, incredible bassist, super professional, partner in endless conversations about music, football, culture and everything that comes up,” posted Jota Quest.
Legacy and farewell
The group underlined the difficulty of dealing with Tommaso’s departure: “We have no words to express all the pain and sadness we feel at this moment. It is difficult from now on to do a show and not remember you, my friend! Our sincere condolences to Dani, to the strong Renata and to all the family and friends. Go in peace friend!”, concluded the band.
Tommaso leaves behind his wife Dani, to whom he was married for 29 years, and his daughter Renata, a 26-year-old architect.
