MusicIron Maiden guitarist loses home during California fires

Adrian Smith and his family managed to leave the place safely: “we have each other and we will start over”, says his wife on social media

Since the beginning of the week, a forest fire has been raging in Los Angeles, one of the main cities in the United States, as well as other cities in the region. In total, eleven people died as a result of the flames, which also caused more than 130,000 people to be evacuated and caused the destruction of approximately 10,000 properties, including houses, buildings, churches, schools and businesses.

As the region is inhabited by several world-famous people, it has been common to come across reports of artists and personalities in general who had to deal with the environmental problem. One of those affected is Adrian Smithguitarist of Iron Maidenwho had to leave his residence in the Malibu region — and lost it to fire.

The information was shared by his wife, Nathalie Dufresne Smith, on social media (via Igor Miranda website). Still on Tuesday (7), she had confirmed that she had left the place with her family. Last Friday (10), the sad news: the property and its belongings were engulfed in flames.

When publishing images of a sunset, the guitarist’s wife stated:

“We lost our home. Thank you for all your kind words and support. Last sunset.”

In the caption, he added:

We are safe. We have each other. Let’s start over. #MalibuStrong. Thank you for your support in these difficult times.

Other rock musicians affected

Larry “Ler” LaLondeguitarist of Primusalso lost his home in the fires. In rock, musicians like Brad Wilk (Rage Against the Machine), Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins) and Scott Ian (Anthrax) had to abandon their homes.

Overall losses could reach more than US$50 billion (more than R$300 billion at current prices). Normally, insurance companies do not cover this type of problem in the region, considering its recurrence.

The president Joe Biden declared an emergency in the state of California. He also announced that the federal government will cover 100% of the recovery for six months.

“Thankful my family and pets got out last night before it was too late. We are safe, but the loss is still devastating,” Mandy wrote. The house, located in Pacific Palisades, was described as a refuge from her hectic Hollywood routine.

Actor Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy’s co-star in This Is Uswas also affected by the fires. In an interview with CBS, he told how he and his nine-month pregnant wife were forced to quickly evacuate.
“You start thinking about all the memories created in the house, and seeing everything destroyed is devastating,” reported Milo, who also thanked the firefighters for their dedication to saving lives.

Singer Jhené Aiko revealed on social media that her home was completely destroyed, leaving all her possessions behind.

“My house and my children’s house is gone. Everything was burned, including our memories and most precious things. I’m grateful we have each other, but starting from scratch is scary,” vented. The property was located in Hidden Hills.

Businesswoman Tina Knowles, mother of Beyoncé, lost her beachfront bungalow in Malibu, a space she described as her sanctuary. In a video posted on social media, Tina showed the view she had before the fire.
“It was my favorite place, my sanctuary, my sacred happy place. Now it’s gone,” wrote Tina, who also thanked the firefighters for their efforts amid the tragedy.


6. Candy Spelling

Candy Spelling, mother of actress Tori Spelling, reported that her home, located in Calabasas, was completely destroyed by flames.
“I’m in shock and processing this huge loss. This house held so many memories of my family, and now there are only memories left,” declared Candy to TMZ. The property was one of the most emblematic in the region, with historic architectural details.


7. Miles Teller

Miles Teller and his wife, Keleigh Teller, lost their Pacific Palisades residence. Keleigh shared a photo on Instagram taken during the evacuation, showing the house still intact, but with dense clouds of smoke in the background. She later posted an image of the wreckage, expressing regret that she was unable to save personal items such as her wedding dress.

“If you are in the Los Angeles area, PLEASE get out if you can”Keleigh warned in a social media post. She also thanked the community for their support and praised the strength of local residents.

Anthony Hopkins, Oscar winner and one of the greats of cinema, had his home in Pacific Palisades destroyed by fires. According to TMZ, the actor is safe, but the loss of his residence was total. The house was known for housing the actor’s vast art collection and as a creative space for his painting projects.

Actor Cameron Mathison shared a video of the wreckage of his home, reflecting on the emotional impact of the destruction.

“This house was where we raised our children and where they dreamed of raising their own children in the future. Seeing all of this disappear is something I’m still trying to process,” wrote the actor on his social networks. The property was in Hidden Hills and was one of the family’s favorite spaces for gatherings and celebrations.


10. Anna Faris

Actress Anna Faris lost her 1,219 m² mansion in Pacific Palisades, acquired in 2019 for around R$30 million. The property, which had been decorated with exclusive items following her split from Chris Pratt, was completely destroyed. Anna has not officially commented, but sources close to her told TMZ that she is “devastated by the loss.”
