The 27-year-old DJ returned to the stage after a knee injury to close the show in Rio de Janeiro
Accident during the presentation
DJ Pedro Sampaio had an accident on Saturday evening (1/11) while performing at the Universo Spanta festival, held in Rio de Janeiro. During the second song of the show, the artist jumped from a metal structure and fell to the ground, injuring his knee.
Shortly after the fall, he was removed from the stage with the help of the dancers and the show was stopped for a few minutes for assistance.
Back on stage
Despite the injury, Pedro Sampaio returned to the stage with his right knee immobilized and ended the show sitting on a chair. Unable to dance, he explained what had happened to the audience, receiving applause and expressions of support.
“It’s very common for me to come back to the stage, because I respect you a lot, especially Rio de Janeiro. So if I saw that I could come back, I came back,” the DJ said.
The artist also revealed that he had already injured his knee during a recent ski trip, making the joint more vulnerable.
“I was on a trip a little while ago and I fell off my skis. It wasn’t anything serious, but it was a little weakened. And now, in the excitement of the show, I jumped off the board, as I always do, and leaning on my leg I felt my knee shook and I fell,” he reported.
Thanks to the team
Pedro Sampaio thanked the event’s production team and his physiotherapist for their immediate assistance, which made the continuation of the show possible.
“It hurt, but I received quick support from the entire Spanta production team. I also have a physiotherapist traveling with me, so everything is fine. We can continue the party.”
Even with physical limitations, the DJ adapted his performance and concluded the presentation without stopping interacting with the audience.
