MusicRingo Starr performs special and allocates money to fire action in LA

Contry concert ‘Ringo and Friends at the Ryman’ brings back the singer’s discography and features artists such as Jack White and Sheryl Crow

music icon, Ringo Starr will join Jack White, Sheryl Crow, Billy Strings and other artists to celebrate their catalog — with a country twist — in a special performance. Part of the proceeds will go to California wildfire relief efforts.

The show Ringo and Friends at the Ryman will be recorded on January 14th and 15th at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium and will be shown over the next few months. The formerBeatles will also be joined by Rodney Crowell, Mickey Guyton, Emmylou Harris, Sarah Jarosz, Jamey Johnson, Brenda Lee, Larkin Poe, Molly Tuttle and War and Treaty.

“I’m excited to hear my songs done in a country vein and play with this incredible group of musicians. It will be two nights of peace, love and music,” said the artist in a statement.

Ringo Starr’s country side

Ringo Starr recently released the country album Look Upproduced by T Bone Burnett. “There is not a single person in the world who has generated more goodwill than Ringo Starr”, said the producer. He emphasized the deep connection of Starr with country music, noting that many of the drummer’s vocal turns with the Beatles “were country songs.”

‘Matchbox’, ‘Honey Don’t’, ‘Act Naturally’, ‘What Goes On?’, ‘Don’t Pass Me By’ — and even ‘Octopus’s Garden’ It’s a country song. We don’t know which country, but a country song nonetheless.”

The show will feature Starr performing songs from her new album along with some of her classic tracks from Beatles and solo hits, including “Boys”, “Act Naturally”, “Yellow Submarine”, “Don’t Pass Me By” and “It Don’t Come Easy”all reimagined by Ringo and company.

Income from the launch of a planned presentation of “With a Little Help From My Friends” of the show will benefit the American Red Cross’ California wildfire relief efforts. The special will also be broadcast on Paramount+ in the USA; an exact date has not yet been determined.
