MusicThe first show canceled in Brazil due to fires in Los Angeles

American rock band would come to the country for the first time for a single show in São Paulo, but the event had to be suspended; idea is to reschedule visit

The worst sequence of fires in the history of Los AngelesUnited States, turns 10 days old this Friday (17). To date, 27 deaths have been recorded and losses of between US$250 and 275 billion are estimated (R$1.52 and 1.67 trillion at current prices). Around 80,000 people remain under evacuation orders, unable to return to their homes — if they still exist, as they may have been destroyed by the flames.

One of the consequences of these fires affected Brazil. This week, the band Palaye Royale had to cancel the first show in its history in the country. It would take place on January 25th, a Saturday, at Hangar 110in São Paulo.

Palaye Royale live in 2024

The glam/garage rock group officially composed of the brothers Remington Leith (voice), Sebastian Danzig (guitar) and Emerson Barrett (drums) suspended the entire tour he would undertake in Latin America. In addition to Brazil, they would visit Mexico, Chile and Argentina.

Although the band was formed in Las Vegas in 2008, its members currently reside in Los Angeles. The region where they live received evacuation alerts. In a statement on Instagram (via Igor Miranda website), they state:

“It is with a heavy heart that we must announce the postponement of our January tour dates in Mexico, Chile, Argentina and Brazil.
With the recent devastating wildfires in Los Angeles and evacuation warnings near our homes, we need to prioritize our safety right now. The fires are not yet fully contained and these uncertain times have been quite overwhelming.
We deeply hope that you can understand and thank you for your patience.
We look forward to visiting your beautiful countries soon and bringing you an unforgettable show. Stay tuned for new dates — we promise it will be worth the wait.”
