Mikkey Dee spent the end of 2024 hospitalized with sepsis; presentations in Brazil were not commented on, but are kept on the agenda
THE Scorpions postponed his show season as a resident of the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, in Las Vegas, in the United States. The reason is the drummer’s recent hospitalization Mikkey Deewho suffered sepsis due to an untreated ankle injury.
The presentations would take place between the end of February and the beginning of March. Now, they are transferred to August 14th, 16th, 19th, 21st and 23rd. THE Buckcherry continues as the opening attraction. Anyone who purchased tickets for the original dates will be able to use them as normal, while refunds can be requested at the point of sale.
In a statement (via Igor Miranda website), the German band — which celebrates its 60th anniversary — declares:
“We regret to inform you that due to Mikkey Dee’s continued recovery from her recent hospitalization, we have made the decision to postpone our ‘Coming Home to Las Vegas’ residency until August 2025. Our brother’s health and well-being is of utmost importance . We wish Mikkey a full and speedy recovery and look forward to rocking with you all again soon!”
Nothing was said about it, but the shows in Latin America are maintained on their original dates. In April, Scorpions begin a tour of the region, playing in Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Colombia and Ecuador. In our country, the group performs in Brasília (04/16, with Judas Priest, Europe and Kisser Clan), São Paulo (19/04, at the festival Monsters of Rock) and Rio de Janeiro (04/21, solo date at Qualistage).
Mikkey Dee’s health
The world of heavy music almost lost one of its greatest drummers recently. Mikkey Dee, member of the Scorpions since 2016 and notorious for his decades-long involvement with the Motorheadspent three weeks hospitalized due to a “very serious blood infection”, as defined by himself.

The news was shared by Dee in a statement on social media (via Igor Miranda website). The 61-year-old drummer said he was unable to respond to messages wishing him a merry Christmas and New Year due to his hospitalization.
“I was hospitalized with a very serious blood infection (sepsis). I was hospitalized for three weeks, but now I’m home fighting this nasty bacteria. Fortunately, I received fantastic care at Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, my hometown. So, thank you very much to all the doctors and nurses who have given me the best care. After several operations I am now back home and the scans are all going in the right direction. I still have a lot of recovery and rehabilitation ahead of me.”
Also in the text, Mikkey said he was recovering to return to the stage. At the time, the Las Vegas shows had not yet been postponed.
“We have a tremendous 2025 ahead of us, celebrating 60 years of Scorpions and many exciting shows around the world. So I can’t wait to see you all on the road and rocking the hell out! I wish everyone a fantastic 2025 with good health and lots of Rock n’ Roll!”
What happened to the Scorpions drummer
In her first interview since the incident, Mikkey Dee provided more details about her hospitalization. To the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet (via Blabbermouth), he said that the situation began after a sprain of one of his feet. Even with a swollen ankle, the drummer preferred to self-medicate with paracetamol and anti-inflammatories and continue performing shows with a Christmas music project.
“My ankle swelled up like hell, then took on a strange shape and appearance, looking like a very cooked ham. I got really sick, so I had to go by ambulance to Sahlgrenska hospital, and there they discovered a lot of changes, so they made me a top priority. I had to go into surgery immediately, the first of three. They cut out what was dead, infected and severely compromised.”
Finally, Dee summed up the seriousness of her case in one sentence:
“If it had taken one more day, I would have been playing the drums with Lemmy [Kilmister, líder do Motörhead falecido em 2015] in heaven—I can say that.”

In addition to Scorpions and Motörhead (a group he was part of between 1992 and 2015), Mikkey played with King Diamond and Don Dokken. He still recorded a good part of the album Rabbit Don’t Come Easy (2003), from Helloweenas a studio musician.
