The actor Kevin Costnerwho turned 70 last Saturday, 18, used Instagram stories to remember one of the great stars he worked with: Whitney Houston. The two starred together in the classic romantic film The bodyguard (1992) – which features the iconic “I will Always Love You“, written by Dolly Parton and immortalized in the singer’s voice.

“This photo reminds me how lucky I am to have another birthday,” Costner he wrote in the post. “We lose a light when we lose Whitney,” wrote the actor, about his scene partner, who passed away in 2021, when he was just 48 years old.

The photo posted by Costner the news comes from the singer’s official profile, managed by her estate, which published the souvenir to honor the actor. “Happy birthday to Kevin Costner!”, reads the caption of the post. “A behind the scenes photo of The bodyguard with Kevin, Whitney AND Ellin LaVarthe hairdresser Whitney in the film.”

In June last year, in an interview with CNNthe actor recalled the funeral of Houston and said he refused to summarize his 17-minute speech honoring his friend. “I was working on this speech… and I tried to put together everything I wanted to do and finally I came up with this speech,” he recalled. Costner. “Someone said, ‘A CNN is here, they wouldn’t mind if their comments were shorter because they’ll have commercials.’ And I said, “They can get through this.” They can play the commercial while I’m talking, I don’t care.'”

“I could feel the weight on her, now it’s shifted on me. What will I say about this little girl? [Eu] I went back to that church in Newark and it was packed. It was electrifying. There were two bands playing, the church was alive. It was like, boom!”
