Coldplay thank Indian fans for forgiving ‘all the bad things the UK has done’

Chris Martinfrom Coldplaythanked fans for something unexpected. The British band performed in Mumbai, India last weekend as part of their world tour Music of the Spheres.

During the show, the singer said, “This is our fourth visit to India and the second time we have played here. First time we have played a long show and we couldn’t have asked for a better audience. Thanks for coming” . Today!”

“Thank you for having us, even though we are from the UK. Thank you for forgiving us for all the bad things the UK has done,” he continued.

Martin referenced the years when India was under the rule of the United Kingdom, between 1858 and 1947. Watch the moment he thanks his fans:

The speech of Martin divided opinions. In the comments on the above post, one Internet user wrote: “Chris heal intergenerational trauma with a microphone, a stage and some music.” Another, however, said: “Okay, but when do we forgive them?”
