The Brazilian metal band that will play in Japan for the first time in 2025


The series of Noturnall shows in Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka strengthens the Japanese public’s admiration for the heavy music of the largest South American country

Although Japanese people generally admire Brazilian music, few local artists have managed to perform in the Land of the Rising Sun. In heavy metal there are rare names like Angra, Viper, Serious AND Hibria. THE At night is about to enter this gallery, with a series of presentations in the country.

Japanese audiences will be the first to see the group, formed in 2013 from the ashes of a recently closed studio Shamanwith his new guitarist. Gabriele Veloso is also a member of History, Inorbit and Urantia and fills the vacancy left by Mike Orlandoformer American of Adrenaline Mob who left the band in 2022.

Complete by Tiago Bianchi (voice), Saul Xakol (low) e Enrico Pucci (drums), the quartet will play in Tokyo (Holiday Shinjuku, 21 and 22/02), Nagoya (Heartland Spade Box, 23/02) and Osaka (Gabu, 24/02). In the first city mentioned the band will record a DVD, directed by Bianchi e Jason McNamara. A music video will also be recorded for an unreleased song.

The shows are promoted by Japanese record label Rubicon Music, which represents the quartet in the country and has made their most recent album, Cosmic Redemption (2023). In addition to Noturnall, the JusticeJapanese band led by the Brazilian singer Yuri Sanson (formerly Hibria), e Strength of illusiona group with local and South Korean members.

THE Rolling Stone BrazilThiago Bianchi says that almost all of his albums have previously been released in Japan — since Karmaa band created in 1999 of which he was a member before joining Shaman. All in all, curiously, it did not have much initial popularity in the country. However, the singer discovered this during a recent trip accompanying his professional colleague Edu Falaschi which remains recognized there.

“To my surprise, we are really well known in Japan. I was stopped on the street several times, there was a long line of autographs for Shaman and Karma records. I later found out that Shaman’s music X-Japan which we re-recorded with Shaman, ‘Kurenai’It was a great success there, to the point that they physically recognized me on the street. We had previously focused internationally on Russia, with whom we were touring Disturbedbut because of the war we decided to turn our attention to Japan.”

After the Japanese release of Cosmic Redemption and bridges made by the Majustice guitarist, Jien Takahashiand of Juan Corralmember of the Noturnall management, was invited to visit the country – and as the main attraction. According to Bianchi, tickets are already close to sold out and the production is even considering moving the events to larger venues.

Regarding the arrival of a new guitarist, Thiago underlines, first of all, his gratitude Leone Mancini AND Vittorio Francowho in recent years served as temporary members before Veloso’s permanent arrival. None of them were able to stay due to other career commitments, which left room for the current member.

“All the bands I’ve had in my life have had problems with other members having commitments to other bands. To avoid this situation happening again, we decided to bring in someone completely new, without major commitments to other bands. It’s someone who several people have recommended him, his Instagram receives comments from musicians like Kiko Loureiro, Jason Richardson, Roberto Barros AND Marcelo Barbosa. He’s young, but at the same time he brings with him a new dialect, influenced by djent and math metal.”

The visit of At night in Japan it is part of the Around the cosmic worldwho promotes the aforementioned album Cosmic Redemption (2023). The tour had more than 150 dates in North, Central and South America, Europe and Oceania.

In the following months the quartet toured Brazil with Edu Falaschirelaunching the 2024 partnership. In total, 24 dates have already been confirmed, between June and August, covering four of the country’s five regions. The groups Auro Controlfrom Bahia, and Krakkenspitof Goiás, also make up the program.
