Jamie Gray Hyder became a familiar face on NBC when he joined Law and order: SVU in 2019. She played agent (and then detective) Kat Tamin for two full seasons earlier written at the beginning of season 23 . Her character went through a traumatic experience that led her to make the decision to leave special victims. Now, the actress shared her thoughts of hers with Gossipify about whether or not she would be back SVU after being abruptly deleted.
We will soon find Hyder in the context of a very different project, since her Hawkgirl voiced in the Green Lantern: Beware of my power Animation film hitting domestic media on July 26. She spoke to Gossipify’s Adam Holmes and considered a possible return as Kat:
Absolutely! I’ve enjoyed working with all of my co-stars at SVU and in business, if you’re not dead there’s always a chance you’ll come back. [laughs]. So I would say absolutely yes.
Kat may have had a near-death experience in the season 23 premiere that led to her making the decision to leave NYPD, but being close to death doesn’t mean she’s killed! Fans might be happy that Hyder is so excited to be back SVU one day, especially in light of how it was thrown away and his comments after the news last summer .
It definitely has a point on SVU characters who always have a chance to return until you kill them. The show not only brought Chris Meloni back after nearly ten years, but also gave him an Elliot Stabler spin-off. Of course, Kat didn’t turn 12 on the show before leaving like Stabler did, but only in season 23. it has brought many familiar faces .
The 500th episode saw the return of Danny Pino as Nick Amaro, Tamara Tunie as Melinda Warner and Dann Florek as Donald Cragen. (Florek also appeared as Cragen in Organized crime last season). In the second half of season 23, Demore Barnes also returned for an exciting episode as Christian Garland, who landed a new job after leaving NYPD. who left the door open for other potential appearances .
Barnes was knocked out at the same time as Jamie Gray Hyder, so her return in season 23 could be a good sign for Hyder to reprise her role as Kat in season 24 or beyond. There are no guarantees, but her enthusiasm for her at least shows that she’d love to get back to work with her former co-stars again. Losing Kat and Garland marked a significant change for SVU and it would be interesting to see their reactions to the team’s new status.
