For a good cause, Steven Tyler, Joe Perry and Tom Hamilton will get together to host a charity event this Sunday (2)
THE Aerosmith is officially retired from the stage, in a decision made after vocal injuries to Steve Tyler have proven to be permanent. However, three members of the band — including Tyler — will reunite for a special performance.
Steven the guitarist Joe Perry and the bassist Tom Hamilton will play together next Sunday (2) during the “Jam for Janie” party, organized by the singer during the Grammy ceremony. The charity event raises donations for the Janie’s Fundan organization founded by the vocalist to support girls and young women who have experienced trauma. In this edition, there will also be support for firefighters who helped contain the fires in Los Angeles, in the United States.
An official statement highlights that the occasion will feature a red carpet, cocktail reception, dinner, live auction and an exclusive party with live music. In addition to Aerosmith, they were present as presidents of the event, Ace and Matt Sorum, Alice Cooper, Andrea Bocelli, Ashlee Simpson and Evan Ross, Bill Maher, Bo Derek, Chris and Rich Robinson, Dolly Parton, Flavor Flav, Jane Lynch, Kayte and Kelsey Grammer, Lionel Richie, Melissa Joan Hart, Miley Cyrus, Nuno Bettencourt, Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson, Sammy Hagar, Scarlett Johansson and Shep Gordon.
Guitarist’s names Brad Whitford and the drummer Joey Kramer — who was already removed from the band’s final activities — were not mentioned. In a note, Steven Tyler stated:
“What the Los Angeles community has endured with these wildfires is unthinkable. Music has healing powers and we hope to bring a moment of joy and lightness to our first responders and those most affected by the fires. The trauma experienced by the girls we work with is also unthinkable and we will continue to shed light and support the incredible work of Janie’s Fund.”

End of Aerosmith
Aerosmith announced their retirement from the stage in August 2024, eleven months after their last show, held in September 2023. It was only the third date of their farewell tour, Peace Out. At the time, Steven Tyler suffered a fractured larynx — and managed to perform until the end, but suffered irreversible damage to his vocal cords.
At first, the group just postponed the commitments, in an attempt to get back on track. Almost a year later, they saw that it would be impossible. Among all the members, the only one to announce a new musical project was bassist Tom Hamilton, who founded the band Close Enemies.
