Vocalist and bassist of Hawaii engineers revealed contact made only by “a guy who sings in a cover band and is playing with them”
In 2024, Augusto Licks and Carlos Maltz They played again together. Guitarist and drummer, respectively, represent two thirds of the classic formation of Hawaii engineers – Complete by Humberto Gessinger.

In an interview with Gabriel Zorzetto for the newspaper The State of S. Paulothe singer and bassist said he received a message only from “a guy who sings in a cover band who is playing with them.” The report associated such a description with Sandro Trindadetribute musician Crea -free engineers who has been following Licks and Maltz in the recent performances.
“I didn’t even receive an invitation from Augusto and Carlos. Who wrote to me the email was a guy [Sandro Trindade] who sings in a cover band and is playing with them. And then I thought I didn’t even fit. I don’t want to get in this world. It is very self -referentant thinking of being a cover band. ”
Following, Gessinger confirmed that he received contact from companies and festivals interested in gathering the classic formation of Hawaii engineers. However, the frontman stated that he was not willing – and again explained his reasons.
“I’m so happy with what I’m doing and the size I have now. I think the girls [Carlos e Augusto] They understand that too. I am honored that they miss, but I do not have. For me it would be to get into a cage, where they are giving me a riot, giving me water. Wow, let me go a little, old. I don’t want to have an obligation to fill arenas every day of the week, it’s not my size. I studied architecture, set up a band, made my way, I write my complicated lyrics, I don’t know who understands, I play my way. I mean, nothing against those who crowd the arena, but this is not my game. ”

Still during the interview, Humberto Gessinger denied feeling any pressure to play again with Augusto Licks and Carlos Maltz. The musician said the work alongside his colleagues represents only 7 years of a career that has four decades.
“I don’t feel pressure. Each time people know more about the work I am doing, less strong is this noise. It was 7 years of my career, cool for the damn, but she is 40 years old. I have no problem talking about it, is that if I deepen, I will be comparing colleagues of several generations, and I do not want to compare, I find that extremely inelegant. And another thing that happens is that they put me in a schizophrenic position to compare myself. It is more commercial than artistic pressure. ”
Currently, the singer and bassist revisit two specific moments of his old band’s career, on a tour focused on albums Acoustic MTV (2004) and Acoustic: New horizons (2007). Both works were recorded already without Licks and Maltz, who came out in the 1990s, but bring versions to various songs originally designed with them.
