Guitarist understands that it is not yet time for the band to stop, but when this moment comes, everything will be led wise
Discussions around a possible closure of the activities of the Iron Maiden They have gained strength in recent times. Not only by the advanced age of musicians – all over 60 – but also for the health problems and recent retirement of the drummer Nicko McBrainonly that was over 70 years old.
Confirmation of a five -decades commemorative tour only reinforced the discussion. The group will enroll in the years 2025 and 2026 with the RUN FOR YOU LIVESplaying only songs from their first nine studio albums.
Is there really a planning for Maiden to leave the scene? The guitarist Dave Murrayonly beyond the bassist Steve Harris to participate in all discs, granted a rare interview to Music Radar and approached the subject.
Initially, the musician reflected on other artists who seem not to know the time to stop – and ensured that his colleagues will be aware of the moment of interrupting the activities. He said:
“For me, there is nothing worse than seeing a band you like on stage and they seem to be there. We are almost coming to the seventy brand now, but I think we will all know when the time will be. It would be a mutual decision. ”
Then Murray pointed out that it is necessary to leave the scene being at a high level. The public cannot witness its decay.
“I think there is a moment to give up with dignity and elegance instead of dragging things. If you go out at a high level and then retire gracefully… I think it would be satisfactory to us. And not just kicking dead dogs, which happens when you’re doing it for the wrong reasons. ”

Ready to continue
Finally, Dave Murray stressed that Iron Maiden is ready to continue his activities with the new tour. The First Show of RUN FOR YOU LIVES It is scheduled for May this year in Hungary. There are scheduled appointments until August, all in Europe. Other continents – including South America – receive the group in 2026.
“We are all ready for this tour. After that, we will see what the future reserves. But at the moment the band sounds great. We still have that excitement and adrenaline when we get on stage. We’re still enjoying it – and that’s what it’s about, really. ”
