Musiclapalooza Brasil 2025: between ups and downs, festival reflects a moment of transition

The lack of great headliners was noticeable, but the great attention to new names too

The 12th edition of Lollapalooza Brasil gathered 240,000 people over three days in the Interlagos Autodrome. However, this year’s programming was one of the least attractive and several of recent times, which impacted the overall experience of the festival.

If on the one hand the headliners did not impress so much, the highlight was the least released shows, but they won the most tuned audience. CA7RIEL & PACO AMOROSO, Parcels, Neil Frances, Michael Kiwanuka and Inhaler It was some of the performances that yielded praise and surprises. Among Brazilians, King suit and Sophia Chablau and a huge waste of time They also stood out.

The reaffirmation of the success of consecrated artists as Alanis Morissette and Grave It also marked the edition. In case of Olivia RodrigoIt was beautiful to see the new generation of rocker girls singing in choir, while many parents accompanied their daughters in one of the most anticipated shows of the festival.

Infrastructure and recurring problems

The festival had rain and mud, a factor not fully predictable, but which generated difficulties in circulation. Some areas were covered by stones to minimize the impact, but the solution could have been broader.

Among the positive points of the infrastructure, there were improvements in the bathrooms, ease of buying products without the need to recharge cashless bracelets, and good water distribution. On the other hand, the variety of food options has been limited. THE Chef’s Stagewhich always brought a diverse menu, went unnoticed by many due to the new location.

Another problem was the lack of the circular bus, which in previous editions was carrying the audience from the train station to the race track. With this, everyone had to go on foot, making it difficult to arrive and exit the event.

Line-up and the future of megafestivals

One of the main problems of the edition was the little musical diversity and the lack of news on line-up. The festival seems to have lost part of its essence, betting on a poster that has privileged “Tiktok generation” names, which may have removed a more eclectic audience.

The challenge for major festivals such as Lollapalooza It is in the growing difficulty of hiring heavy artists, both for financial reasons and the scarcity of relevant headliners. With this, smaller festivals gain space by providing a more affordable and intimate experience, without the need for long displacements and great physical wear. Not to mention that the Lolla It is very expensive for the Brazilian reality: both for the producer and the consumer of the festival.

Another point that deserves attention is the attempt of Rock worldevent organizer, to apply strategies of the Rock in Rio to the Lollapalooza in São Paulo. What works at a festival does not necessarily translate well into another context, and this mismatch is very evident.

Despite criticism, the festival remains one of the largest music events in the country. However, it is necessary to rethink its next editions to ensure that the magic of Lollapalooza Do not get lost in the midst of the challenges of the music industry.
