The reason, finally, was explained. And it has to do with one of the health problems faced by Blackmore, on the eve of being 80 years old.
Candice brought the news in an interview with Totalrock transcribed by Blabberouth (via Igor Miranda website). According to the vocalist, Ritchie suffered a heart attack about a year and a half ago, which makes it impossible to trips by plane. The musician also suffers from joint problems such as gout. The artist said:
“Ritchie was informed by his cardiologist who can’t get on a plane. He had a heart attack about a year and a half ago. He has six stents. I can’t believe he will be 80 years old on April 14, which is crazy. It doesn’t seem like this age, but the medical issues end up appearing. So we need to keep him happy and healthy. back.”

The singer, now 53, recognizes her husband’s limitations regarding tours. However, she points out: “I’ve seen younger people than him in wheelchairs on stage.” In his words, the guitarist does not want to be seen in a debilitated way – reasoning refuted by his own wife.
“I see another way. From the fan perspective, I think people would be happy to be in the same place as he and hear him play, regardless of anything. We have this discussion all the time all the time [risos]. But he recently went to the cardiologist and they said, ‘Let’s leave the plane travel aside.’ ”

Despite the change in the agenda, Blackmore’s Night has never been a project of many shows. In addition, the presentations are still taking place: one tour was held between June and July last year and another is scheduled for this month and the next. Ritchie Blackmore’s final activities at rock took place with a brief Rainbow meeting between 2016 and 2019. At the time, the guitarist played with a fully reformulated formation, especially Chilean presence Ronnie Romero on vocals.
