Institution has already reneged so many classic names of the style to the point of generating irritation in the members and entrepreneurs of one of these groups
There are not few iconic rock artists and bands that are Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Scorpions, Grand Funk Railroad, Motörhead, Thin Lizzy, Jethro Tull, Megadeth, Dio, Alice in Chains, Slayer, Oasis, Boston, The cult, Smiths, New York Dolls, Korn, Pixies, Surplus, Living Color, Soundgarden, Nazareth, SMASHING PUMPKINS… The list is immense and this is just the tip of the iceberg.
However, the lack of Iron Maiden Leaves fans of uncomfortable heavy metal worldwide. And, it seems, the group itself is upset about the situation.
In an interview with VRP ROCKS (via Blabberouth), the drummer of Bad Company, Simon Kirkereflected on the nomination of his own band for the institution, in the dispute for the presence in the so -called “class of 2025”. In the midst of his comment, he revealed something curious: Maiden sent a letter to those responsible for Rock Hall asking to be forgotten, as they were in the vote on two occasions – 2021 and 2023 – but were eventually defeated in the jury vote.
He said:
“A great friend of mine is Nicko McBrainfrom Iron Maiden. And he sent me a congratulations message [pela indicação do Bad Company ao Rock and Roll Hall of Fame]. He said, ‘By the way, Simon, Maiden was nominated several times and we have never been introduced. Then our team wrote to the Hall of Fame saying, ‘Stop nominating us. Nonsense. Will get screwed ‘. ”

Still during the chat, Kirke revealed that he would like to have the Freehis pre-Bad Company band, introduced to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame before Bad Company. The second group was signed after the end of the first and brings not only Simon on the drums, but also Paul Rodgers on vocals.
“What can I say? If I was sincere, I would say it was time, because we are around for so long. And how about Free, that came before Bad Company? A lot of people have a lot of affection for the free.”
Iron Maiden and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
Since 2005 Iron Maiden has been eligible to enter Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The rule is to have released its first album or official EP at least 25 years before the first nomination.
In 2021 and 2023, they were remembered in the dispute, but did not win. Before that, the vocalist Bruce Dickinson came to say in an interview with Jerusalem Post that would refuse the tribute if it received it.
“Actually, I’m very happy to be there and I would never like to be there. If we were introduced, I will refuse-they will not have me there. Rock and roll does not belong to a mausoleum in Cleveland. It’s a living thing that breathes. If you put it in a museum, you will be dead. It’s worse than horrible: it’s vulgar.”
