Before becoming a sensation in the alternative pop, Chappell Roan You have tried to follow the path of realities. In an interview with W Magazinethe singer recalled the auditions she did to The Voiceand America’s Got Talent– Experiences that, according to her, were striking (but not exactly positively).
Roan He said he was only 15 years old when he signed up for the The Voiceand chose the music “Stay” to sing in hearing. She remembers that at the time the hit “When I Was Your Man”from Bruno Marswas on the rise, and she thought it would be super original when changing the letter to “When you were my man”making a gender inversion.
“But then I realized that every girl was doing the same thing. Everyone thinking she was innovating,” he said, laughing.
Despite the preparation and courage to sing Capella, the reception was frustrating:
The producer – or whatever the guy was seeing the hearing – didn’t even look at me. I was on my cell phone all the time. It ended and only said, ‘Okay, next.’ I scared to death there in front of him, and the guy didn’t even get his eyes. ”
She also said she tried the America’s Got Talent When I was only 13 years old:
We traveled to Austin, Texas, and stayed in line with thousands of people at four in the morning. I sang ‘True Colors’from the Cyndi Lauper. I didn’t pass either. ”
Years later, even without the spotlight of the TV shows, Chappell Roan He would conquer his space in his own way – with powerful performances, sincere letters and a striking look that is hers.
