Overcoming and affection: the stories that mark the fans meet at the Lady Gaga show in Rio

After the frustrations in the past, the crowd meets in Rio to celebrate the artist who marked lives with music and acceptance messages

The concept of “Everyone in Rio”, used by the Town Hall to promote the Lady Gaga show this Saturday, 3, in Copacabana Beach, can be seen on the streets of the neighborhood.

With the presence of thousands of tourists from all over the world, the capital of Rio is the celebration point of many meetings among the fans of the American singer. This is the case of Fernanda Canedo, 26 years old, residing in Volta Redonda, inside Rio, and Ledicia Marvie, 29 years old, coming from Governator Valadares. They, who were already close to practically, have been able to meet personally in the wonderful city because of the show. “I only knew Fernanda practically. So everyone can meet here and be together because of Lady Gaga,” said Leticia.

In common, friends nourish admiration for Mother Monster, in particular for the impact that the American diva has had for the construction of values and vision of the world. “During the trajectory, he teaches us many things about acceptance, character and mental health,” explained Fernanda.

The feeling of gratitude for the artist is also shared by Allana The Queen, 23 years old, born in San José Do Egito, in Pernambuco, and is in Rio de Janeiro for the first time. Being a trans person, he explained the importance of the representativeness he found in the singer’s songs. “I am a non -binary person from inside of pernambuco and I didn’t see myself in the corner there. And he was on YouTube, in a LAN house, where I met Lady Gaga and saw the representativeness. He really saved my life,” he explained.

Thales Alexandre, 32, is originally from Manaus and works as a graphic designer. For him, the artist’s work helped him understand and accept his sexual orientation. “At sixteen I was very ashamed to say that it was gay. I saw my friends play with this range. But he was taking such a great proportion, so much that I feel it I was ashamed.”

Frustration, anguish and hope

A lot of clamor by the fans after the cancellation of the show in Rock in Rio in 2017, Lady Gaga also arouses the feeling of hope a few hours after the show. The friends Gabriel Laurindo, Igor Cardoso and Júlio César, Rio residents, were the first time that the Pop diva arrived in Brazil in 2012 and suffered the disappointment of not coming, years later, when they were faced with the Fasano Hotel and received the information on cancellation. Now they finally have great expectations for the meeting with the singer. “In 2012 we did the same thing. We came to the hotel, we took the pizza he gave, I could also have a flower he played and that I held to date. In 2017 we were desolate with the cancellation, but now we know that it will be a great show,” they said.

Even the memory of the cancellation of 2017 left wound to Anna Carolina Farias, 26 years old, residing in Cascavel, Paraná. He says he was embarking on Rio de Janeiro when he started receiving messages that they inform about the mother monster not close and that the fact left her anguished during the flight.

“We sat on the plane and the cell phone started whistling. Many people saying that it would not come. When it went on Twitter, I thought it was a joke, but then I had to leave my cell phone on the plane and I was in this anguish. When I landed here in Rio, even the unknown numbers sent me that it would not really come.

When asked what you will hear when you can finally see the artist on stage, the answer was on the tip of the language. “Wow, I will cry a lot.”
