Song will be part of Talkin ‘to The Trees, the artist’s next album with the band Chrome Hearts, scheduled for June 13
Six days after presenting “Let’s Roll Again” In the semiannual charity show Light Up The Blues, Neil Young officially released the song, present in his next album TALKIN ‘TO THE TREESwhich arrives on June 13th. The track may sound as a sequence of its 2002 song on September 11 attacks, “Let’s Roll”But it is actually an appeal for car manufacturers to act responsibly and create more electric vehicles.
He sings:
“C’Mon Ford, C’mon Gm, C’mon Chrysler, Let’s Roll Again/Build Somethin ‘Useful, People Need/Build Us A Safe Way for Be/Build Us Somethin’ Won’t Kill Our Kids.” ([…] “Ford, Gm, Chrysler, […] Build something useful, people need/build a safe way to us/build something that doesn’t kill our children. ”)
However, this does not mean that he wants people to support ELON MUSK and buy Teslas. The letter says:
“If Yer a fascist/then get a tesla. If it’s electric, it doesn’t matter.” (“If you’re a fascist / then buy a Tesla. If it’s electric, it doesn’t matter”).

Two decades ago, Young created her own electric vehicle, Lincvolt. The saga is narrated on the album Fork in the Road (2009).
TALKIN ‘TO THE TREES It is Young’s first album with its new band, the Chrome Heartswhich includes the guitarist MICAH NELSONthe organist Spooner Oldhamthe bassist Corey McCormick and the drummer ANTHONY LOGERFO. The group is basically the Promise of the Realexcept Lukas Nelsonwith oldham included. In January, Young shared another track from the album TALKIN ‘TO THE TREES, “Big Change”.
Neil Young formed the Chrome Hearts last year after unspecified health problems to forcing you to cancel a tour with the Crazy Horse in the middle of last year. They did their first show of the year at Light Up The Blues on April 26. The setlist included not only the live debut of “Let’s Roll Again”but also the first performance of “Ordinary People” Since 1988.
They recorded TALKIN ‘TO THE TREES at the end of last year at Shangri-La studios in Malibu, California, with the producer Lou Adler. Young’s longtime associate, John Hanlonit was the sound engineer. “In my humble opinion, this is shaping to be a totally unique and deeply introspective album of songs”wrote Hanlon earlier this year at Neil Young Archives, “Ranging from a beautiful acoustic palette to the noisy and irreverent rock ‘n roll, almost like a splash of paint in the style of a Jackson Pollock paint”.
Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts start a world tour on June 18 in Dalhalla, Rättvik, Sweden. The American part starts on August 8 in Charlotte, North Carolina, and ends on September 15 in Los Angeles.
