Music Maiden asks fans not to shoot their shows too much and explains reasons

Band is about to start tour that celebrates 50 years of career and wants to relive the aura of the old days, and improve experience for everyone

THE Iron Maiden It has been on stage since 1975 and has seen all kinds of transformation in audiences throughout this period. And it seems that something recent is bothering the band: the excessive use of cell phones by fans.

One week before starting RUN FOR YOU LIVESits next tour that celebrates the 50th anniversary of the foundation, the group issued a statement on social networks with a request to the public. They want people in their shows not to film the show over, so they can make the most of the moment and make the experience better even to those on stage.

In the initial stretch of the note, Maiden said:

“As everyone knows, the world tour RUN FOR YOU LIVES marks the 50th anniversary of the band’s formation by Steve [Harris, baixista] In late 1975 and, to celebrate, Maiden fans have the promise of a very special repertoire, covering the nine studio albums, Iron Maiden (1980) Fear of the Dark (1992), with your most spectacular and elaborated show of all time! In tune with this time, Maiden wants everyone in the audience to experience this spectacular show, as they would do when many of these songs were played live for the first time in the 1980s and, like many other artists, the band now asks fans not to film excessively with their cell phones or tablets. ”

Rod Smallwood, the group’s longtime entrepreneur, added:

“We really want fans to enjoy the shows straight, instead of doing this on their small screens. Excessive use of cell phones nowadays diminishes the fun, especially for the band, which is on stage looking at mobile ranks, but also to other spectators. We feel that the passion and involvement of our fans in the shows make them special, but the obsession with the cell phone has come out of control that it has become a distraction that has become a distraction that has become a distraction Unnecessary, especially for the band. I hope fans will understand this and be sensible to severely limit the use of their cell phones in respect to the band and other fans. ”

The manager, finally, reinforced the appeal:

“We would like you to be ‘at the moment’ and actively get involved to enjoy each of these classic songs in the Spirit and the way they were first played. This show is not just a celebration of our music; it is, as you will see, also about our years of art, about the many, many worlds of Maiden we created for you. It is noteworthy that there are rare examples of artists and bands seeking to ban cell phones in their performances. Bob Dylan, King Crimson, Jack White and, recently, Ghostbelong to this list because they have adopted various resources aiming at such objective. Iron Maiden’s case does not represent a ban, only an audience orientation.
