THE Queens of the Stone Age Launches in June Alive in the Catacombsaudiovisual material that brings the band performing in the catacombs of Paris, France. A selected list of cinemas worldwide will perform between June 3 and 6.
In Brazil – and in South America as a whole – there will be only one place with the work on display. This is Curtain cineclubin downtown São Paulo. The other selected cities are from Europe, North America, Asia and Oceania. Tickets can be purchased in the official website.
Alive in the Catacombs was recorded and filmed in July 2024, just before the leader Josh Homme undergoing emergency surgery that led to the cancellation of various groups of the group in the European summer.
The Queens of the Stone Age was the first band authorized to play in the catacombs of Paris, a bone over 300 kilometers in the underground of the French capital. There are deposited bones and remains of millions of people over the centuries, which led Homme to play: “It is the largest audience we have already played”.
Hélène Furminieuxresponsible for the conservation of the ossuary, said in the disclosure material:
“Paris catacombs are a fertile ground for imagination. It is important to us that artists appropriate this universe and offer a sensitive interpretation of it. Going underground and confronting reflections on death can be a profoundly intense experience. Josh (Homme) seems to have felt in his body and soul all the potential of this place. noticeable in the subtle use of silence within the catacombs. ”

Josh Homme’s health
In addition to emergency surgery performed in 2024, Josh Homme had to deal with cancer diagnosed in 2022. However, Qotsa’s leader told British television in 2023 in 2023 ITV News (via Igor Miranda website), who was healed.
At the time he revealed being undergoing treatment, Homme did not specify the cancer site. He only said he had undergone surgery.
Queens of the Stone Age and Alive in the Catacombs
About the content of Alive in the Catacombs, the repertoire promises to go through various stages of the band. Josh Homme stressed the minimalist approach that the place gave to the songs, some of them in completely acoustic versions:
“We are so stripped because this place is so stripped, which makes music so stripped, which makes the lyrics so stripped … It would be ridiculous to try to play rock there. All these decisions were made by that space. That space dictates everything; he is in charge. You do what they send you when you are there.”
