Music-tang Clan dives into games with Rise of the Deceiver

New action game brings unpublished soundtrack, supernatural universe and honors the group’s trajectory in hip hop and audiovisual

The legendary hip hop group Wu-tang clan has just announced its newest project: an unprecedented video game called Rise of the Deceiver. Mixing action, fantasy and music, the game promises to lead fans to an immersive experience full of references to the universe created by the New York collective.

In the plot, players are summoned to protect Shaolin, spiritual home of Wu-tang, of an obscure and corrupt force known as the Misleading (Deceiver). To do this, they will have the help of the group’s own members, who share their legendary powers with a new generation of warriors.

With multiplayer gameplay and a heavy soundtrack, Rise of the Deceiver will feature both classic group tracks and unpublished compositions produced by Just Blaze. “If someone told me for 30 years that I would be doing this, I would doubt. It’s like realizing a dream,” the producer told Rolling Stone.

Blaze also revealed that the music team goes beyond hits as “Cream” and “Protect ya neck”giving room for rarer bands, such as “Bizarre”from U-modeland “Dexbeat”. “This project is a love letter to hip-hop and Wu-tang”He added.

The game initially emerged as a complement to the horror movie Angel of Dustwhich has direction and trail of RZA and production of Ghostface killah. Second Ghostfacethe game expands the dark mythology of the feature.

Wu-Tang: Rise of the DeceiverIt will be released for PC and consoles, not yet defined. The news marks the return of the group to the universe of games, more than two decades after the launch of Wu-Tang: Shaolin Stylein 1999.
