Big Brother’s Ameerah Jones shares her reaction to fan backlash and offers advice for next evicted

Attention! The following contains spoilers related to the eviction of week 4 in Older brother Season 24. Read at your own risk!

Older brother Season 24 has already been a hotly contested season for the popular franchise, and much of it has to do with Taylor Hale. The former Miss Michigan has faced a number of micro-assaults from other guests from the moment she stepped into the game, which angered many unhappy fans at the way she was treated . The most recent expulsions of the season first learned of this reaction to returning to the normal world, and according to former host Ameerah Jones, it has been difficult to manage.

I was privileged to speak with Ameerah a week later your expulsion from Older brother which was at a point where she was able to experience and better understand the backlash from fans (and even former guests) regarding things that have happened so far in season 24. Ameerah dealt with the situation when I told her I was wondering if had had an opportunity. talk to the evicted ex-exiles, Joe “Pooch” Pucciarelli, and / or Paloma Aguilar, of whom elimination for personal reasons ultimately helped transform Taylor’s game . Here’s how the now former candidate responded:

I talked to both of them. Pooch isn’t mad at me at all, surprisingly. [Laughs] And I think we’re all, you know, all sixteen of us have had the same experience together. And so we all need each other right now to work on our sanity and relax and see where we went wrong and see what we said. A little lean on each other for a kind of group therapy. We’ve all said bad things around the house. We also support each other to help us with this.

Ameerah admitted that some bad things were said in the Older brother at home and talked about the unique experience everyone shared in the game, in part including live streams potentially seen by millions of people Paramount + subscribers who posted and shared clips of the many negative or unflattering things that were said about other guests.

At the time of his expulsion, Ameerah was unaware of what the outside world was saying about his allies in the game. Ameerah explained what it feels like to leave the house disappointed, only to hear negative comments from fans. He thinks the shock he felt is something other kicked players will feel too, saying:

It was absolutely a shock and I know it will be a shock to the guests coming tonight, next week, etc. At home, you have a completely different mindset. I think direct strategy, direct play. I think only of myself. Who I am at home is not who I am out, so whatever he does at home, I don’t care what happens. I only care what helps me. Yeah, when I got out of the house and saw all these negative clips of mine and all these tweets and stuff like that, it took me by surprise, it definitely took me by surprise. Of course it hurt me, but it was a shock because you live in a completely, completely different world there.

Ameerah Jones expressed later in our interview that she would love to talk to Taylor Hale for the one-on-one to finish and that she didn’t have any negative feelings towards her or anyone else in the series. Older brother home. Ameerah also said she hasn’t been able to watch the game or live streams yet because she wasn’t sitting in the right headspace to watch. However, she saw many clips that were sent to her and she said she felt refreshed watching them.

Ameerah isn’t the last guest to have a reaction Older brother fans online, as Nicole Layog and Daniel Durston are also likely to be criticized for their behavior. With Nicole likely to leave the game soon, Ameerah shared some tips for her former ally about life outside the game for the foreseeable future:

I’d tell her to avoid social media for the first week or two away from home. I feel I should still avoid it. I do my best, but it’s hard. Avoid social media, but when you can access it, watch videos of her having fun at home and recognize it. You understand why people are hurt by it, and then you take the necessary course of trying to fix, you know, fix what she said she probably shouldn’t have said.

This is definitely good advice for any guest who gets mad at fans, especially for comments they made that were controversial or in some way provocative. Not all Older brother Guests perceived as “bad” ultimately find redemption with fans, but accountability is often a good way to help reduce online hatred. Not recognizing it can lead to more problems, because big brother of celebrities Houseguest Todrick Hall can testify after him and others CBB The guests suffered a tense and awkward ending after his fellow contestants watched clips of what he said while filming. We’ll see if Nicole and the others follow Ameerah’s advice.

Older brother aired on CBS (opens in a new tab) Sundays and Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET and Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET. Follow live broadcasts by checking out Paramount +, especially since long uninterrupted periods are one of the many changes we love from season 24 .
