Singer responds for the attack in the London nightclub and denies the gun

Chris Brown, 36, returned to the center of the legal dispute last Friday (20), while he participated in the Southwark Crown Court in London.

The American singer, a winner of the Grammy and known for a career marked with R&B strokes and also disputes, declared innocent on the accusation of attempted serious body damage during an alleged attack in February 2023.

According to the accusation, the artist would have used a bottle as a weapon to attack the music producer Abraham Diaw at the Ribbon nightclub, located in the main neighborhood of Mayfair, in London. Chris, who personally attended the hearing, said “Innocente, lady”, when questioned by the judge on the accusation.

He confirmed his name and his date of birth, keeping a quiet position against the approximately 20 spectators, many of which have accompanied the public session.

The accident that gave rise to the trial occurred at dawn on February 19, 2023. The witnesses reported that the Diaw was repeatedly hit with a bottle and a punch was given and kicked after the first blow.

Brown’s defense, however, says that the accusations are unfounded and that the singer has not participated in the attack.

Chris Brown is not only on the bench of the defendants. Divides the process with Omololololu Akinlolu at 39 years old, which also denied the same accusations during the hearing.

Both are responsible for aggression for body injuries and, in the case of Brown, there is also an additional accusation: possession of weapons in this case, the bottle used in the alleged aggression in a public place.

The singer was arrested by the metropolitan police in May 2025 at the hotel where he was staying in Manchester, but was released a few days later, on a deposit. The value of the deposit affects: Brown paid £ 4 million (About R $ 28 million) to the British court, with the promise to add more £ 1 million in seven days.

This amount acts as a guarantee that the artist will participate in the next hearings, under penalty of loss of amount in case of non -compliance.

Chris Brown: the tour follows in the process and the test is marked

Despite the seriousness of the case, Chris Brown has maintained his concert program. The night before the hearing, the singer normally performed in Cardiff, in Wales, showing that the process has not yet interfered directly with his international tour.

The next hearing is scheduled for July 11 and the trial is scheduled for October 2026, with an estimated duration between five and seven days.

Chris Brown is not foreign to the legal environment. Its history includes several disputes, the best known case the episode of aggression to the singer Rihanna in 2009. Since then, he has faced a sequence of accusations ranging from contempt for possession of weapons and violence.

The current case, however, promises to drag and will have a strong international media coverage, not only for the severity of the accusations, but for the constant tension between the public image of a pop star and the troubled backstage that often accompany it. Until then, the stage and the court will continue to divide the spotlight on the trajectory of Chris Brown.
