Singer would perform in Brighton, England on October 29; Performance ended up suspended after the “No Stage for Abusers” campaign

Earlier this month, Siân BerryParliamentary of the Green Party, wrote open letter to Bella SankeyLeader of Brighton and Hove City Hall, who pressed for the cancellation of Manson’s show.
In a letter signed by members of the Green Group of Brighton and Hove City Councilors, the Survivor Network, the University of Sussex Student Union and others, Berry said:
“Many survivors of abuse in Brighton and Hove, and the organizations that support them, will have serious concerns about this event and their broader impact on others who visit the city center, local residents and the general community. The council has the responsibility to take steps where there are risk of discrimination, harassment and victimization.”
Another possible cancellation
After Berry’s letter, Bournemouth’s board leader Christchury and Poole (BCP), Millie Earlalso urged the local operator, BH Live, to cancel the October 31 show at Bournemouth International Center in Bournemouth, England, which is owned by the Council, although this does not control who will be hired by BH Live.
In response to a resident’s question about Manson’s show, she wrote (via BBC):
“I don’t think Marilyn Manson reflects the values we have in BCP and we have worked hard around things like the White Ribbon program, which helps men and boys change negative and harmful behaviors. So I asked BH Live to reconsidere to receive Marilyn Manson later this year.”
