The artist was acquitted of the most serious accusations in the federal process
Sean “Diddy” Combs, 55 years old, will have his sentence defined on October 3, after being sentenced for transport for prostitution. The Hip-Hop magnate has recently been acquitted of the most serious accusations of sex trafficking and conspiracy for extortion, which could have caused life imprisonment.
The sentence will be issued by the judge Arun Subramanian, at the Federal Court of the Southern District of New York.
The artist’s legal team requested an early audition, initially refusing the proposed date, but in the end he accepted the appointment for October. Diddy was arrested at the Brooklyn metropolitan detention center from his arrest in September last year. The time he has already spent in prison will be considered in the final sentence.
During the process that lasted eight weeks, Combs faced a series of accusations that involved his ex -girlfriends, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura and another woman identified as “Jane”. Both reported, in electrified testimonies, for having been forced to participate in sexual acts with other men under the influence and pressure of Diddy, on the so -called “strange” in the hotels where the artist presumably looked at and paid the participants.
The jury, made up of eight men and four women, rejected the accusations of sexual traffic and conspiracy for extortion. However, he considered guilty of funding with aerial tickets for male escorts to perform sexual acts with their partners in different cities in the United States. After the meetings, men received cash payments.
Despite the accusations, the defense argued that the artist was the objective of the disproportionate persecution by the government and that there were no sufficient evidence to characterize sexual traffic. They admitted, however, that Combs was physically violent in some past relationships, but they stressed that “domestic violence is not sex trafficking”.
Sean Diddy: Defense provides for a minimum penalty, the accusation has been asking for more than 5 years
Diddy’s lawyers are working to receive the minimum penalty, between 21 and 27 months. On the other hand, the accusation claims that the appropriate penalty should be between 51 and 63 months and could be even higher. The judge Subramanian denied the request for temporary freedom before the sentence, claiming that the accused has not shown that it is not a risk for society.
The Combs showed a strong emotion when they acquitted the most serious accusations, kneeling and thanking him aloud in court. His main lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, spoke with the artist’s children after the verdict, underlining the importance of partial victory and ensuring that the struggle for his continuous freedom.
“We will not stop until you see you see you see you boast,” said Agnnifilo to the press, strengthening that the defense team will continue to seek legal alternatives until the day of the sentence.
