A lost treasure of the American folk legend is about to win the world Woody at home, vol. 1 & 2an album with home recordings never before released by Woody Guthrie (1912–1967), will be released on August 14, 2025.
In 1951, Guthrie He received a Domestic Recorder Revere T -12 Crescent (a rarity for the time) and recorded 32 ribbons at his home in New Jersey. Records included unpublished songs, alternative versions of classic music and even spoken interludes.
The project promises to bring 20 music tracks and 2 spoken interludes, including: 13 songs that, so far, only existed in the form of a letter. A record of Guthrie Interpreting “This Land Is Your Land” in one of the versions briefly noted by him. Track “Deportee”available on July 14, a date that would mark the artist’s 113rd anniversary.
Despite serious quality problems, as the songs had only one microphone balancing voice and guitar, new restoration tools allowed to clean the audios and highlight the voice of the singer, who lived his last years under the effects of Huntington’s disease.
The hereditary health problem, which affects three out of every 100,000 people, causes the death of brain cells, leading to a progressive loss of motor coordination, locomotion, movement and speech.
The singer, who was induced to Songwriters’ Hall of Fame (1970) and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (1988), now receives an additional testimony of his lasting influence.
