Big Brother’s Ameerah Jones explains why she and other guests cried after Paloma left

Older brother Season 24 just started week 5 and so on The expulsion of Nicole Layog keep shaping the house, it’s amazing to think how drastically this game has changed since week 1. (You can review all past events with our special Older brother spoiler summary guide here ). Paloma Aguilar’s unexpected departure for personal reasons forced the game to perform a soft reset and abandon its twist for a new one, and it also shocked Houseguests. Viewers have seen guests cry and join in prayer after they leave, and Ameerah Jones recently shared some perspective on why she too cried.

The moment was emotional, but there were some reactions online that questioned the intense emotional response. Older brother The 24th had only started the week before, yet the guests were crying for someone they had only known for so long. Ameerah spoke to Gossipify about the big moment and shared why she cried too:

Yes, and let me tell you, I’m not an emotional person. I walked into Big Brother’s house saying, “I’m not going to cry like all these people I see on TV.” First of all, it’s not just about entering the house. You go through this period of kidnapping where you collapse. This process took us months and months and only some people understand what you went through. For me it was like putting myself in his shoes and I know how difficult it was to get there. And we’ve seen Paloma too, we’ve seen her practically fall apart. It wasn’t nice. It was very sad and scary and I have a family with a mental illness so I felt it there.

As Ameerah said, Older brother Guests are subject to an isolation period a few weeks before the actual match to avoid spoilers and outside interference (e.g. wall flags that often affect the game ). When fans and Paramount + subscribers watching the live streams watching the start of the game, some of these folks haven’t had much interaction with others for a while. They also have to go through a seemingly grueling application process to get there, so Ameerah felt that Paloma put up with it all for an unexpected departure.

Ameerah noted that another part of the sadness was seeing Paloma change from the start Older brother departure. Ameerah talked about this and the speed with which bonds are formed in the game with other guests:

Many of us saw her walk into the house under that starry light and were very excited about the experience. And just seeing it fall was heartbreaking. You spend twenty-four seven hours with these people. Even in six days, we learned a lot about them in such a short time. I think that’s why it moved us all so much to see her fall like that.

Paloma Aguilar spoke to fans on social media after her release and briefly touched on the event that ultimately gave Taylor Hale a new life in the game. Paloma described her accident as a “mental break” in the comments on TikTok and anyone watching the live streams knew something was going on. Given Ameerah’s comments, it’s easier to see why guests cried and felt so bad for someone they’ve only recently known.

Older brother aired on CBS (opens in a new tab) Sundays and Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET and Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET. Tune in for more dramas.
