Black Sabbath bassist celebrated the fact that he was able to perform final presentation alongside the singer at the Back to The Beginning Festival

While Butler participated in almost all Black Sabbath formations (absent only between 1984 and 1990 and from 1994 until 1997), Osbourne had a number of comings and goings. He left in 1977 to return the following year – and break once and for all in 1979. Then he participated in a live Aid show in 1985. The definitive return of Sabbath’s original formation took place in 1997 and lasted until 2006. After that, a final lap took place in 2011, lasting until 2017 – not to mention, of course, the punctual farewell in 2025.
In addition, Geezer worked on Ozzy’s solo career between 1988 and 1999 and from 1995 until 1996. In this case, they recorded the EP Just Say Ozzy (1989) the album Ozzmosis (1995).
Tony Iommi’s tribute
Tony Iommiguitarist with whom Osbourne worked on Black Sabbathalso provided tribute. The musician cited the fact that the farewell of the stage of both Ozzy and Sabbath had just occurred, more specifically on July 5, during the mega event Back to the Beginning.
He said:
“I just can’t believe it! My dear friend Ozzy passed away a few weeks after our show at Villa Park. It’s such painful news that I can’t find words, there will never be another like him. Geezer, Bill and I lost our brother. My thoughts are with Sharon and the whole family Osbourne. Rest in peace, Oz. Tony.”

Ozzy Osbourne’s death
The cause of the death was not disclosed. However, it is known that the singer’s health had been weakened for years due to a number of health problems-including Parkinson, whose diagnosis was revealed to the public in 2020.
In a press release sent to the press, the artist’s family stated:
“It’s more sadly than words can express that we have to report that our dear Ozzy Osbourne passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded with love.”
Then he added:
“We ask everyone to respect our family’s privacy at this time.”

Ozzy Osbourne left us just 17 days after his farewell show with Black Sabbath and in a solo career. The Back To The Beginning Festival also featured appearances by Metallica, Guns N ‘Roses, Gojira, Tool, Slayer, Anthrax, among several other names.
