The new work presents a more adult and mature version of the artist. After the success of the first album and partnerships with names such as Ana electric chicken, Sain, Uana and the band TuyoThe rapper learned to make better decisions and built a repertoire capable of reflecting his art and identity.
The search for herself has NiterĂ³i (RJ) as a starting point and return. In this scenario, Joca He addresses the themes present in your life as a young, black and peripheral artist, sharing experiences and reflections on the territory, community, relationships and addictions.
As inspiration, Cummant It comes from the ancestors of a culture with various sizes. “I feel that in Brazil we have a very powerful, very intense and uncontrollable force that derives from this meeting of African and indigenous cultures. And within super violent contexts, a way to survive was through music, words, movement, food. This inspires me because I see that the generations pass and this foundation remains alive.”
Joca It also takes on the musical direction of the project and addresses, in a unique and versatile way, all aspects of its musical vocabulary. With beats ranging from the bottom of Miami, garage, home, Amapiano and already known hip hop threads, such as Trap and Boom Bap, Mixtape has tools of various Brazilian producers and Ebony, Tuyo, Luciane dom, Jef Rodriguez, Amanda Sarmento AND Luana Karoo Between participation.
“In addition to adding specifically to music, which each of these people has done with me, adding to my artistic process for life, to understand how the other derives from a result that, in terms of the platform, is also aligned with what I do. I feel that this process of composition, creation, production, production, being very intimate. Being very close. Being contacted with these artists in the studio, understanding how they work, is very entertained.”
As an independent artist, Joca has faced many challenges in the production of Cummant. “We live in a narrow rope trying to understand how we can continue to act in music and independent art. And also to maintain. Many independent artists still need to make a double journey, work on something else and therefore manage their careers,” he says, while remembering that the difficulties for those who propose to question the models and encourage the debate are even greater.
But, like any journey of maturity and self -knowledge, the challenges are accompanied by lessons. “I had to cling a lot to my faith, to my car processes -to my spirituality, to put my feet on the ground and continue doing what I thought I had to reach the world. It is a very strong process.”
The most interesting of the song is when everyone can get a way from it to develop and apply reflections in its own area. I hope to be able to connect with people interested in building and interrogating. Let’s put the wind together. ”
