The last goodbye to Ozzy Osbourne It will be marked by a funeral procession through the streets of his hometown, Birmingham, this Tuesday, July 30. The body of the legendary singer of the Black Sabbathwho died on July 22, at the age of 76, will be taken in a procession that will travel to Broad Street from 13h (local time), passing the emblematic Black Sabbath Bridge, spontaneous fans’ honor point in recent days.

The event precedes the private funeral and will be attended by the local band Bostin ‘Brass, which will accompany the ceremony. Broad Street will be closed to traffic from 7am, with deviations scheduled for buses and trams throughout the day.

Since the news of his death, thousands of fans from around the world have visited Black Sabbath Bridge to leave flowers, tickets and honors. A condolence book was made available by the City Hall, with financial support from the Osbourne family itself, allowing admirers to record Ozzy’s impact on their lives.

The commotion also led to initiatives to rename Birmingham airport in its honor, as well as a stage of the festival download. An online petition exceeded 47,000 signatures in a few days.

In recent years, Osbourne faced recurring health problems. In 2019, he suffered a fall that aggravated old spinal injuries, and has undergone several surgeries since then. He was also diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2003, publicly revealed only in 2020, and had a severe covid-19 picture in 2022, which further impacted his mobility.

Even with fragile health, the Prince of Darkness made his last live performance earlier this month, during the festival Back to the beginning in Birmingham, your hometown and cradle of Black Sabbath. The event brought together bands like Metallic, Korn, Tool, Slayer, Panther, Guns n ‘Roses, Alice in Chainsamong others. The show will be transformed into a backstage and interview movie, scheduled to debut in theaters in 2026.

Ozzy also leaves a posthumous book, LAST RITESwith launch scheduled for this year. Among the many emotional taxes, names like Elton John, Billie Joe Armstrong, Yungblud, Jack White, Alice Cooper and their former bandmaters, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Wardhighlighted the artist’s historical impact, both on music and pop culture.
